Your Dedicated Jedi Knight Multiplayer Review Source

	[ What is it? ] A guns modification for both single player and multiplayer. [ What is it suppose to do? ] It's suppose to replace or modify most of the existing LEC weapons. The author also added several skins for multiplayer. [ Does it do this well? ] I figure the best way to review this is to go over each weapon one by one, with quality, fun, and gameplay in mind. 1) Fists - Nothing new here. 2) Bryar Pistal - The same 3do model but a different projectile. The standard projectile bolt has been replaced with a beam that impacts instantly. This is something I really like, because I always thought that the big problem with the existing LEC weapons was that they were too slow (this is why everyone uses the Concussion Rifle only in multiplayer). The faster projectile really helps balance the weapons out. The only big problem I have with this gun in that there is no impact animation. Your beam just kinda disappears when it hits something (kinda hard to tell if you scored a hit). 3) Stormtrooper Rifle - Same comments as the Bryar Pistal. Except this weapon (of course) fires faster. 4) Flamethrower - Now the fun begins! Many-a-times have I seen people try to create a flame-thrower, yet fail miserably. Not this time folks. This is by far the best flamethrower I've seen for Jedi Knight to date. The projectile is cool, it has a short-range, and it doesn't work under water (thank god). Best of all it doesn't lag. I tested it on my P166 and it ran fine. The only two cosmetic things I think he could have added is a visible fuel tank to the gun (gotta wonder where the fuel is coming from) and maybe the ability to set your opponents on fire. But considering the limitations of the Jedi Knight engine, this thing rocks. 5) Two Beretta .9mm Handguns - They look and play great. Only problem I noticed is that he's only holding one gun in external (although I'm not sure if this issue can be addressed in Multiplayer). 6) M41A Assault Rifle with Zoom - It works great, and the zoom function works nice, but the gun model itself needs some serious work. It's way too small! It looks like a circus midget should be holding this thing. Also, the texturing is pretty bad. 7) Duel Function Rocket/Grenade Launcher - It looks and functions just like it should. No real complaints here. 8) Plasma Cannon - Another masterpiece... the explosion this thing delivers kicks arse. Although things can get a bit laggy when two or more people are using this in multiplayer. 9) Mini Gun - First you love it, then you start to hate it. The 1st-person model rocks, I especially love how the gun continues rotating for a few seconds after being fired... very cool. Unfortunately, it looks like some short-cuts were made on the 3rd-person model because it looks nothing like the 1st-person model. But that's not the worst of it... this thing lags the hell out of multiplayer. Even with my DSL I experienced some major lag farts. I'm not quite sure what attributed to this, but it's definently something that should be looked into if any future releases are planned. 10) Lightsaber - Same LEC saber, so no comments. Skins: The skins look great, and I can tell a lot of time and effort went into them. A larger variety would have been nice, but not necessary. One last thing I should mention are some other bugs I found... - Your guns leave bullet holes... but if you shoot a box and it explodes, the bullet hole remains floating in the air. Not really much of an issue in multiplayer though, except when it comes to doors, heh. - After playing for more then 15 minutes in multiplayer, you may notice that all the explosion animations reduce to one frame (weird). - Sometimes you get weapon pick-up/activate messages from your opponents. - Everytime someone dies in multiplayer, it forces all players back into 1st-person mode. [ Overall Opinion ] This seems to be my beef with all the mods. This thing has some great potential, and if some extra time was spent to perfect and squash all the bugs, this thing would reign supreme. But since that didn't completely happen in this version I'm forced to give it a lower score. Overall, this mod is great and I recommend downloading it as it has a lot to offer.
